Gas Wall Heaters
Gas wall heaters are a perfect heating solution for both rooms and other spaces such as garages or
workshops.
The biggest difference between the various models it the heat output in BTUs (British Thermal
Units). Before choosing a gas wall heater you should first work out the volume of the room you want to heat. This
will enable you to select an appropriate appliance.
Gas wall heaters used to be a very common sight as the primary means of heating a home. While
they are not as common as they used to be, they remain relatively cheap to buy and are straight forward to install.
They are also incredibly efficient in terms of fuel consumption. Installing central heating into your house may be
extremely costly, especially if you do not have the proper ducting in place. In this case installing gas wall
heaters instead could be a very good option.
Gas wall heaters come in vented and ventless models. Ventless models get their oxygen from the
air in the room. The hot exhaust is then vented back into the room. This makes them incredibly efficient because
almost no heat generated ever leaves the room. While ventless gas wall heaters are best used in well-ventilated
rooms, the modern models have sensors that shut down the heater if too low levels of oxygen are detected in the
room.
Vented gas wall heaters draw their oxygen from the outside and carbon monoxide is removed via an
exhaust pipe to the outside. These heaters are not as fuel-efficient as ventless gas wall heaters because a
proportion of the heat generated is lost to the outside.
Gas wall heaters either radiate heat or disperse it by convection. For radiating models,
a ceramic plate is heated inside the heater and this radiates heat into the room. Convection gas wall heaters
operates by heating air which, by means of a motorized fan blown out into the room.
These are some of the best models to consider.
PROCOM Blue Flame Gas Wall Heater This advanced heater can be run on either
gas or propane and has a 1000 square foot heating capacity. It has an output of 30,000 BTU and a thermostat is
included.
Desa International Vent-Free Gas Wall Heater This gas wall heater claims 99%
fuel efficient. It includes Piezo ignition, thermostat, and an oxygen depletion system. Temperature is
controlled via the thermostat.
Empire Gravity Vented Gas Wall Heater This highly economical heater boasts a
huge 50,000 BTU output. The unique burner cuts NOx emissions by up to fifty percent. This is an elegant, low
profile heater that can be mounted flush to the wall.
Kozy World 3-Plaque Gas Wall Heater This is a compact radiating gas wall
heater with an output of 18,000 BTU. It can heat a space up to 700 square feet. There are good options available
with this model such as a fan to help distribute the heat radiated. You can also get an optional floor stand.
Gas wall heaters represent a cheap, fuel efficient alternative to installing central heating.
Hopefully the information here can help you make an informed choice if you are looking to buy one.
